Exalt Upgrades Orleans County’s Emergency Communications System

Orleans County Enhances Public Safety with the EX- 4.9i Broadband Wireless Backhaul Solution from Exalt Communications

Campbell, CA July 15, 2008 – Exalt Communications, the leading innovator of next generation wireless backhaul, today announced that Orleans County, New York, has selected Exalt to upgrade Orleans County public safety and municipal agencies, which operate mission critical voice and data communications systems.

Nestled on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, Orleans County Sheriff's Office serves a population of over 44,000 people and covers an area of 396 square miles on the southern shore of Lake Ontario in Western New York. Given the vast coverage area and limited resources, an efficient communications system is the key to saving lives and connecting the community where dispatch means up to a two hour drive. The previous system was proprietary and could not deliver advanced features due to a lack of efficient and scalable Ethernet connectivity.

Developing a unified, interoperable communications system provides Orlean’s County with a powerful tool to substantially increase both daily efficiency and periodic effectiveness during emergencies, when command and control are paramount.

“With Exalt we have control of our network across LATA boundaries, providing the best communications tool to ensure the safety of our community,” said Peter Stritzinger, Radio Systems Manager. “Exalt is a higher class of carrier grade equipment.”

The Exalt 4.9 GHz wireless backhaul solutions are designed for robust, mission-critical communication requirements of public safety organizations.  These solutions are software configurable and provide the highest capacity in the industry, with up to 55 Mbps guaranteed total aggregate throughput. The Exalt radios are also the only radios on the market that can be configured for both native TDM and native IP traffic, providing the most secure and cost-effective solution with 128 or 256 bit AES encryption and SNMPv3 management.

“We have seen a growing demand for next generation robust wireless networks for public safety including emergency response and county wide communications,” said Amir Zoufonoun, President and Chief Executive Officer of Exalt. “With our ability to instantly deliver high capacity with very low latency and robust security, Exalt systems are helping various government and public safety organizations rapidly achieve their challenging network upgrade requirements. Our scalable solution enabled Orlean’s County to easily add more advanced services and coverage at any time, without disrupting or replacing their existing network.”
