As mobile operators strive to keep pace with subscriber demand for bandwidth-intensive content – and prepare for migration to LTE – they are seeking ways to increase available capacity in the licensed bands without resorting to forklift upgrades.

Exalt Communications, using a combination of its licensed and license-exempt microwave radios, will demonstrate a unique approach to delivering 1 Gbps connections in the long-haul bands for 3G/4G/LTE backhaul.

This demonstration showcases the company’s recently announced EX-i Series 6 GHz long haul microwave radio system, the first in the industry to offer a semi-protected “1.5+0” protection configuration, a cost-effective alternative to traditional 1+1 fully redundant protection deployment.
